Sa\u011fl\u0131k okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00e7a\u011f\u0131m\u0131z\u0131n \u00f6nemli bir konusudur. Kavramsal \u00e7er\u00e7eve olarak Avrupa Sa\u011fl\u0131k Okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00c7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131 konsorsiyumu taraf\u0131ndan geli\u015ftirilen entegre sa\u011fl\u0131k okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 modeli kullan\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. \u00d6l\u00e7me arac\u0131 olarak Avusturya, Bulgaristan, Yunanistan, \u0130rlanda, Hollanda, Polonya, \u0130spanya olmak \u00fczere 8 farkl\u0131 \u00fclke geli\u015ftirilmi\u015ftir (Avrupa Sa\u011fl\u0131k Okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 ara\u015ft\u0131rmas\u0131, HLS-EU). Avrupa toplumunda sa\u011fl\u0131k okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 d\u00fczeyi %47,6 yetersiz-sorunlu olarak belirlendi. Almanya&#8217;da yap\u0131lan bir ara\u015ft\u0131rma, n\u00fcfusun %54,3&#8217;\u00fcn\u00fcn sa\u011fl\u0131k okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 oldu\u011funu g\u00f6stermektedir (Schaeffer, Berens ve Vogt, 2017). Bu, Almanya&#8217;da yakla\u015f\u0131k 2 ki\u015fiden 1&#8217;inin sa\u011fl\u0131k konusunda s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 bir anlay\u0131\u015fa ve sa\u011fl\u0131k bilgilerini uygulama konusunda s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 niteliklere sahip oldu\u011fu anlam\u0131na geliyor. Sa\u011fl\u0131k okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 sosyal ve bireysel fakt\u00f6rlerin ortak bir i\u015flevidir. Bireylerin sa\u011fl\u0131k okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 becerileri ve kapasiteleri e\u011fitimleri, k\u00fclt\u00fcrleri ve dilleri taraf\u0131ndan belirlenir (Nielsen-Bohlman, 2004). \u00d6zellikle e\u011fitim bu konunun en \u00f6nemli boyutudur \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc bilgilenmek ve bilgiyi uygulamak e\u011fitim s\u00fcrecinden ge\u00e7mektedir. Bu s\u00fcrece pek \u00e7ok payda\u015f dahil olsa da ilk k\u0131s\u0131m her zaman bir \u00f6\u011fretmen ve bir \u00f6\u011frenciyle ba\u015flar. Bu \u00f6rne\u011fi ger\u00e7e\u011fe ta\u015f\u0131yacak olursak; \u00f6\u011frenciler ba\u015fvuru yapan grupla, yani insanla, \u00f6\u011fretmenler ise sa\u011fl\u0131k profesyonelleriyle e\u015fde\u011ferdir. Her e\u011fitmen veya \u00f6\u011fretmen de bir \u015fekilde e\u011fitilmi\u015ftir. T\u0131p doktorlar\u0131 olarak biz sa\u011fl\u0131k \u00e7al\u0131\u015fanlar\u0131n\u0131n bir alt grubuyuz ve e\u011fitimimiz t\u0131p fak\u00fcltelerinde\/y\u00fcksekokullar\u0131nda ba\u015fl\u0131yor. Sa\u011fl\u0131k okuryazarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 e\u011fitiminin t\u0131p m\u00fcfredatlar\u0131nda yer almas\u0131yla, lisans programlar\u0131ndan daha donan\u0131ml\u0131 t\u0131p \u00f6\u011frencileri mezun ederek mevcut durumu iyile\u015ftirme \u015fans\u0131m\u0131z artacakt\u0131r. Temel olarak sa\u011fl\u0131k hizmeti sa\u011flay\u0131c\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n ortak kelimeleri kullanma ve hastan\u0131n bir tart\u0131\u015fmay\u0131 anlay\u0131p anlamad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 alg\u0131lama becerisini dikkate almal\u0131y\u0131z (Nielsen-Bohlman, 2004). Akran e\u011fitimi t\u0131p e\u011fitiminin g\u00fcncel konular\u0131ndan biridir.
