The University of Health Sciences (UoHS) is the first and only state university established on 15 April 2015 with the theme of health in Turkey. Besides, with 58 affiliate hospitals, it easy to find application in all health area. With this advantage, to realize its mission to provide all kinds of health support to developing countries in the strategy of the university. University of Health Sciences tries to pursue mutually beneficial engagements in the world. These engagements allow access to talent, collaborations, ideas, facilities, and/or funding. They allow better preparation of our staff and students to understand the world, to compete globally, and to become the global leaders in health area. Our university tries to find collaborators they want to work with, laboratory facilities they want access to, research and education opportunities they find attractive. By engaging internationally, we can monitor progress of worldwide efforts, learn from others at the same time that we extend our own expertise, provide global network opportunities for students and faculty. Furthermore, we enable our faculty and students to connect with global companies, and our partners worldwide. It is important for us to integrate globally in research and education, make engagements with a partner that values science and technology, knowledge creation and applications.

University education is available in two cities; Istanbul and Ankara. In Istanbul; Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Life Sciences and Health Sciences Institute. Gulhane Complex in Ankara; Gulhane Faculty of Medicine, Gulhane Faculty of Pharmacy, Gulhane Faculty of Medicine, Gulhane Faculty of Health Sciences, Gulhane School of Health Sciences, Gulhane Institute of Health Sciences and the Institute of Defense Health Sciences. Gulhane Complex was taken to Health Sciences University in 2016.

The University of Health Sciences is a newly established university and the only health themed established in Turkey. Affiliation with 58 hospitals makes University of Health Sciences strong and active in public health policy. With 58 affilate hospitals, it easy to find application in all health area all over the country. With this advantage, to realize its mission to provide all kinds of health support to developing countries in the strategy of the university. Also, international cooperation as a field of special interest for the development and affirmation of the University. In Strategic Guidelines of the University of health Sciences is also stated that the development of the international cooperation is one of the priorities of the University. The University recently developed several performances about internalization, including an institutional target to increase the number of International students.

Department of Public Health, Gulhane School of Medicine seems established in 2016. But the Gulhane School of Medicine previously was serving as a military medical academy (Gulhane Military Medical Academy) since 1898 and in 2016 military medical faculty was closed and renamed Gulhane School of Medicine. Since, the department of public health has a strong experiences and roots in public health areas. Now, academic staff number is 17. Nowadays 300 doctors are graduating in school of medicine. In addition, the pharmacy, dietetics, nursing school is given a lecture by the department. Postgraduate degree are carried out at the department.
Health Sciences University Gulhane Faculty of Dentistry has been advancing to be a scientifically pioneering and reference faculty since its establishment. Now, academic staff number is 58. The dental building in the Gulhane Campus was opened for the first time in 1946 as the Odontology (Dental) Institute of the Gulhane Military Medical Academy. With the GATA Law of 17 November 1983, The Institute of Health Sciences was established and the academic arrangement of the Institute of Odontology as the Dental Sciences Center of this unit was reorganized. After the transfer of Gulhane Military Medical Academy to the Ministry of Health, Gulhane University Faculty of Dentistry was established in Feb, 2017. First undergraduate students started education in 2017-2018 Academic Year.
Project coordinator Hulya Sirin is a medical doctor, public health specialist and assistant professor at Department of Public Health, Gulhane Medical Faculty, University of Health Sciences. She is giving under-graduation and post-graduation lectures at the faculty of medicine, pharmacy, health science, and midwifery. Her interests are migrant health, community mental health, health education, health literacy, health promotion and communication skills. She has worked as an advisor of president of Turkey Public Health Institution and general director of Public Health at the Ministry of Health in Turkey between 2013 and 2019. During these years, she has supervised many projects in public health (health education, neonatal screening, primary care, policy, migrant health etc). And also she has worked human resources management in healthcare with the head of department in MoH and she has gained great experience in policies on physicians’ education and public health issues in Turkey.
Derya Camur is a medical doctor, public health specialist and assistant professor at Department of Public Health, Gulhane School of Medicine, University of Health Sciences. She has worked at Department of Environmental Health, Ministry of Health, and has conducted many project about environmental health and multi sectorial health responsibility.

Metin Hasde is a medical doctor, public health specialist and senior professor at Department of Public Health, Gulhane School of Medicine, University of Health Sciences. He is interested in occupational health and safety. He has a great experience conducting many projects. (esp health promotion, public health education etc). He is a director of the department of Public Health.
